The Colors You look Best in According to Astrology
When you’re getting dressed, or putting together your wardrobe, one area to focus on is color. Which colors look best on you? Which colors do you feel good in?
Fear not, astrology to the rescue! (haha okay maybe not but whatever)
We have a few different ways to determine the colors you look best in using astrology, but I want to focus on one of them: the color asteroids!
There are over 20,000 asteroids (and counting!), each connecting with different things, and some connect with colors. These are the color asteroids you can look up in your own natal chart (you can use astro.com for free, just input the numbers for each asteroid in the ‘Manual entry’ box under ‘Additional objects’ in ‘Extended Chart Selection’):
11207 Black
1643 Brown
3200 Phaethon (I use this for blue since there are no designated blue asteroids; Phaethon might be the bluest asteroid in terms of its color thanks to emitting iron gas - fun fact! THIS Lindaland thread has some interesting thoughts on Phaeton outside of color, if you’re so inclined)
4955 Gold
4423 Golden
5325 Silver
236616 Gray
12016 Green
1195 Orangia (orange)
2884 Reddish (red)
223 Rosa (Spanish for pink)
4478 Blanco (Spanish for white)
10730 White
4544 Xanthus (Greek for yellow)
there are no specific asteroids for purple so I use Purpurea (8585) and Purple Mountain (3494)
Look for conjunctions with the asteroids of color.
First, see if any of the color asteroids conjunct (align with) one of your natal planets. This is usually the first indicator of a color that you look and feel good in - unless it’s conjunct Saturn! Since Saturn restricts, you might not feel or look good at all in a color that conjuncts Saturn, unless Saturn is your 1st house ruler (so your Ascendant/Rising is in Capricorn).
Asteroids of color conjunct your natal Sun, Moon, Venus, Ascendant, Midheaven, or ruler of your Ascendant or Midheaven will often be the colors you should gravitate to. You can also look good in colors conjunct your natal North Node, however you may feel uncomfortable with them until you’ve grown into your North Node energy (so usually later in adulthood).
You’ll usually want to keep the orb tight for asteroids (many will say under 2 degrees), but I do find that with these color asteroids, you can often use a larger orb (say 4-6 degrees).
Extra step: Look to midpoints!
You may find that you don’t have any color asteroids conjunct a natal planet or angle, or that a color you know you look great in isn’t popping. Pull out your midpoints and check there!
In astrology, midpoints are the exact middle between two bodies in the Zodiac. Their midpoint shows how their energy best merges together and works as one.
For the color asteroids, you’ll usually want to check them against any midpoints with the Sun, Venus or the Ascendant. The Sun is your physical body, Venus is fashion, and the Ascendant is your outer self.
With the midpoints, I find you can look to see if any color asteroids are conjunct, but also oppositions seem to be big factors for colors you look and feel best in as well (oddly enough). Orbs do need to be tighter though (so around the 2 degrees).
sSome real-life examples:
I wanted to pull some examples right off the top of my mind of a few celebs that came to mind who center around specific colors. I thought of Taylor Swift and red; her asteroid Reddish is at 5 degrees Pisces conjunct her 5th house cusp (making it a color she enjoys).
She has a lot of color asteroids conjunct something in her natal chart though (Purple Mountain conjunct Mars, Gray conjunct Uranus, Black conjunct North Node, Purpurea conjunct Descendant, Rosa conjunct Jupiter, Blanco conjunct Chiron) which kind of fits how much she’s changed her style a million times.
Reddish though, it’s opposite her Moon-Pluto and Ceres-Pluto midpoints; Pluto being planetary ruler of power, this makes red a power color for her.
Then I thought of Olivia Rodrigo and purple. Oddly enough, both of the purple asteroids are in Cancer and her 7th house (which rules others instead of the self).
She doesn’t have a ton of color asteroid conjunctions (Rosa conjunct Ascendant - wonder how she feels in pink? Also Gray conjunct Mercury and Brown conjunct Ceres; she also has Gold conjunct Saturn so she might want to stay away from Gold!).
Purple comes in more for her with her midpoints, and asteroid Purpurea opposes her Venus-Mercury midpoint, Venus-Neptune midpoint, and Ascendant-Uranus midpoint, while Purple Mountain opposes her Venus-Ascendant and Mercury-Pluto midpoints.
Finally I thought of Sabrina Carpenter and blue. Phaethon isn’t conjunct any natal planets for her; she does have asteroid Purple Mountain conjunct Venus, Golden conjunct Mars, and Green conjunct Midheaven, and Blanco conjunct Saturn (so she could try purple, gold, and green, but may want to stay away from white).
Blue also comes in for her midpoints, and she has a lot conjunct her 7 degrees Gemini Phaethon: Venus-Mercury, Venus-Saturn, Ascendant-Mercury, Ascendant-Saturn, and Sun-Ceres.
